Brian Phelps  

 

Brian is an established trainer and coach in behaviour management, leadership development and communication. He is a qualified mediator, (accredited by Regents College School of Psychotherapy and Counselling) and brings a range of disciplines that supports individual and organisational change. For the last 17 years he has worked with adults and young people inspiring them to reach their potential in their personal life and careers. 

 

Brian designs and presents bespoke courses and training programmes for a wide range of schools and organisations. The content of these courses and programmes include how to work effectively with challenging young people, managing behaviour, leadership development and realising people’s potential.   

 

Brian has lectured and given classes in language and human behaviour.  His knowledge and understanding of people’s emotions and how they function, is sought by schools, corporate organisations and the Metropolitan Police where he provides supervision and advice to investigation and individual officers. He is also an accredited trainer of Maybo Conflict and Physical Management which is the leading organisation in the UK for managing extreme behaviour.

 

His insight of young people comes from 13 years as a foster carer, and working in management of children’s homes. He works closely with fostering and adoption panels for London local authorities and gives introductory training to new foster and adoptive carers.

 

Brian founded Peoplemaking in 2002  and has been working within schools and Alternative Provisions on a range of development and support programmes: 

 

o          Developing leadership qualities through Supervision

o          Helping Children with Loss (Grief Recovery)

o          Devising approaches to improve students’ resilience

o          Mediation

o          Training and development of teaching assistants and behaviour support staff  

o          Supervision of support professionals

o          Safeguarding and behaviour reviews

 

 

 

He has also provided help and guidance on a range of critical incidents and carried out a detailed reviews of pastoral leadership and care in a number of schools.

 

Brian brings a unique insight into systemic leadership which is highly valued by schools, colleges and support agencies
