Helping Children with Loss

The Helping Children with Loss Programme

 totally changes how

we support young

people, who have experienced any form

of loss.

It shifts support, from

Discovery to Recovery! "

Brian Phelps

Founder

The cause of loss is intellectual.

but the response to loss is emotional.

Yet, most therapeutic support is intellectual,

focussing on discovery, which increases a

young persons understanding of a loss

but does very little to help a

young persons recovery of a loss.

Loss is cumulative.

Therefore if it's is not dealt with, it can get worse. Losses that are not acknowledged

can stay with a child for many years

the impact on them can stop them leading fulfilled and free from grief lives.

Children can suffer a multitude of

significant losses and adults don't

always know what to do.

How can we help?

The Helping Children with Loss Programme

uses the principles of the evidence-based

Grief Recovery Method

but adapts them for use with children

of all ages and ability level.

This programme teaches you how to

 communicate with children and young

people about losses they have experienced

and those they might yet face.
